3/29/22— winter postmortem playlist

helloooooo.

my winter was strange and beautiful. i spent a lot of time alone. i spent a lot of time making music. i saw a lot of cute dogs.

here’s my soundtrack of the past few months, featuring:

  • the love theme from Miranda July’s Kajillionaire, which has kept me dreaming of pink soap bubbles since i watched it.

  • a new one from Beach House.

  • an ethereal reimagining of Whitney Houston’s “I’m Every Woman” by Ana Roxanne.

  • my favorite track by Mew. i originally misheard the final lyrics as “dime a dream”, only to discover that it’s actually “diamond ring”—I can’t decide which version i prefer in context.

lastly, some very good advice from Spirited Away.

until next time.

11/19/21— a fall offering

as a sometimes-employee of Reckless Records here in Chicago, i make a lot of playlists. i figured i’d share one here for anyone who might pass through.

below is what’s been in my ears lately, featuring:

  • some straight-up magic from Shara Nova (a.k.a. My Brightest Diamond)

  • a Taylor Swift song that kind of reminds me of Galaxie 500?

  • my vote for The Smiths’ emo-est cut ever

  • a severely underrated early Carly Simon track

whoever and wherever you are, i love you.

hi.

no surprises here—northwestern’s NYC showcase has been postponed indefinitely.

HOWEVER. at your leisure, pop over to…

https://showcase.soc.northwestern.edu/

…where you’ll find my smirky mug in headshot form, my theatrical resume, and a clip of the 32s i would have performed.

take care of yourself.

stay tuned.

i may rant here from time to time.
